uST transport infrastructure technology has been named one of the most promising innovations at the prestigious Global Rail 2025 Innovation Awards. This year, 242 participants have competed for the recognition in advancing transport accessibility and urban mobility, with fewer than 10 making the coveted shortlist. The Global Rail 2025 will take place from September 30 to October 2 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with a prize fund of AED 1 million (approximately $270,000) for this year’s Innovation Awards.
About GRIA
The Global Rail 2025 Innovation Awards is a major industry accolade, established by Etihad Rail in partnership with leading organizations. It aims to foster the development and global deployment of advanced technologies and ideas in rail transport, green logistics, and smart city infrastructure.
In 2024, the awards attracted 75 participants, including key industry leaders. Only three candidates received grants of 500,000 dirhams each. Winning initiatives, particularly in track condition monitoring, were fully implementable on existing infrastructure. This year, the competition includes a significantly larger number of projects, with uST technology among the contenders for industry leadership.
A Technology of Global Impact
The uST systems combine second-tier logistics with cutting-edge engineering solutions. The string-rail tracks are lightweight track structures stretched between anchor and intermediate supports. They carry unmanned passenger and cargo vehicles—unimobiles and unitrucks.
This approach lowers construction costs, improves safety, and delivers high transport capacity. The tracks are elevated, avoiding major earthworks, enabling the system to navigate terrain obstacles, water crossings, and dense urban areas, without disrupting ecosystems or city infrastructure.
Global Outlook
Being shortlisted for the Global Rail 2025 Innovation Awards confirms that Suspended String Rail Transport technology is recognized as a viable alternative to conventional mobility solutions.
Participation in such awards opens opportunities for international collaboration. In the coming years, Unitsky String Technologies Inc. plans to expand its projects across the Middle East, Asia and North America.
